Art Classes in Downtown Calgary
Explore watercolour, acrylic, oil painting, drawing, and creative workshops for adults and children.

The program is designed for adults of all experience levels – from first attempts to restoring long-ago skills. The course combines the study of the graphic foundation, construction, and composition with practice in various painting techniques (oil, acrylic, watercolor). Learning in art classes is organized in small groups, where the pace and space of each creator are respected. You receive support, a calm working atmosphere, and clear tools to realize your ideas.
In children’s groups, we combine an introduction to the basics of drawing with the support of creative courage. All projects at the art school are selected so that the child sees their success at every step and finishes the work with a sense of satisfaction. Step by step, children get acquainted with graphics, gouache, watercolor, and mixed media. The process is built around live practice, which gently develops the ability to concentrate, fine motor skills, spatial thinking, and self-confidence.
Our 7-week Art Fundamentals Course gives teenagers a proper foundation in drawing and painting – not just techniques to copy, but the skills to see, plan, and create independently. Over 21 hours of structured instruction, students work through drawing, colour theory, composition, and painting across a variety of projects, with individual feedback every session. A strong starting point for any teen who enjoys art and wants to take it seriously. All materials included.
Here, we learn to paint with light and water, creating subjects that seem almost weightless. The program includes: detailed contemporary botany, cozy street sketches, and landscapes with color transitions. We will break down how water controls pigment, creating perfectly smooth gradients and an airy background. These art lessons in Calgary will help you feel the plasticity of the material and teach you to create fresh, expressive pieces that you want to look at in detail for a long time.
This format is about bold brushstrokes, rich palettes, and creative freedom. We will paint whatever you desire – from vibrant contemporary graphics to textured still-life paintings with rich depth. You will try working with a palette knife, pressing gold leaf into the paint, and creating large-scale works. Acrylic is a forgiving medium that lets you experiment and make changes as you work. These Calgary art classes return the excitement to creativity, where every lesson is the creation of a noticeable and bold painting.
If one lesson is not enough for you and you want a proper system – choose the long-term programs of our Calgary art school. We take one topic and immerse ourselves in it for several weeks. This is a good way to finally move past the “I can’t do it” feeling, stop being afraid of large formats, and noticeably boost your technique.
